I saw this on TipJunkie. It's kinda neat to crochet a gift tag for the gifts you'll be giving.

Crochet Dream Catcher

I like this dreamcatcher like crochet ornament. Of course, that is very close to a granny square, except you incorporate a mini hoop. Definitely need to try that.
