Shoe Bag

Since my friends talked me into going to ballet, we've been going for a bit.  The hassle was to keep track of our shoes.  So, I decided to make a shoe bag for everyone, including myself.  That way you just drop everything in one spot and easy access.

I bought these iron-on letters for each of the girls, and that way you can distinguish one from another.  They were easier to iron-on than I thought.  Sewing the bags were easy too, fabric from Ikea, and just showed 3 sides, and had a silk cord sewn in for the top all around fot easy cinch.

Easy to do project.

ILHC T-Shirt Quilt

Now that the receiver of this quilt already got it, I don't feel so bad for posting pictures for it.
Been dying to show you guys what I've been working on for some time now.  The recipient of this quilt runs the International Lindy Hop Championship in DC.
We've been going for the past 3 years, it's a great place to see the best Swing Dancers in the country and the world to show off.  We always learn alot when we go to the event.
What I did was to cut the logo out from each shirt, interfaced it, and then applique on top of a different color shirt as background.
There's a good reason for that, alot of the shirt designs has the logo on the lower back or kidney of the shirt, so it's not as obvious to be in the center (chest area).
For the quilt, I did the pillow case style for the sides, that's the easiest way to get it done.
I will say that the main thing is to interface everything.  If you have a good stiff material to work with, it's easier to piece it together.
I had a template of 15X15 made for the background shirts.  You can use old cardboard and make a 15X15 template too.  Obviously you can make them smaller.
Other popular sizes are 12X12 or 9X9 for smaller quilts.
Since I did 6 panels of 15X15, it turns out to be the lap quilt.  Good for snuggling up to watch TV.
Just the back fabric.  I also ironed on a little tag too.  I love the iron on tags!

Love Doves

For my cousin's wedding (in Australia), I decided to make a pair of Love Doves. Figured that I have 14 hours on the plane, I can surely get that done.
Sadly for me, there's not any good entertainment on my flight, that helped me to get these done faster. Since my seat was right next to the the serving station, the flight attendants comes and goes. So, every time they stop by either they will tell me that they used to know how to crochet, or their mom taught them to crochet or knit. Or how they know someone who does. It sure brought us crafters together.
Another thing that happens alot on a long flight like that was that people who walk up and down the aisles as exercise on these flights, would stop by to marvel at it. Sure gave me the encouragement to do more. Plus, I'm stuck on a plane for that long of time, might as well put them to good use. You'd be glad to know that they are now residing on top of my cousin and his wife's living room.

Baby's Breath wreath

For my co-worker Andrea's wedding, the office all pitched in to throw her a shower. It was perfect timing because I saw this on Ruffled and had to give it a shot!
I will say it does take some time to do, and if you got TV shows to catch up on, this is a good time to do it.  One bunch of baby's breath, which cost less than $5 is more than enough for a wreath.  Keep in mind, you can make it fuller than I have here.

Basically, you have wire of the letter first, then you're just wrapping flower and smaller wires to the frame.  The rest is just a matter of time to do.  I'd say it took less than 2 hours.  Give it a try!

Premmie hat 3 of 3

Here's the 3rd preemie hat for my friend who's having triplets.
This is a little bear hat... how cute, if I may say so myself. My trusty Piglet has been a wonderful model for me!
The hat is based on a pattern I found here. I made the ears myself, not that it's hard.
Make 2
magic ring, sc 4
2sc around (8)
bind off and leave a long tail to sew in

Just make sure both sides are balanced!

Premmie hat 2 of 3

So for the 2nd premmie hat for my friend's triplet. I did the puppy hat with droopy ears.
I sewed the pair of ears 3rd row from the brim and match it on both sides.
So, again, the hat is based on this pattern, and I made the ears.

Make 2 of these:
Ch 4
R1 sc from 2nd ch from the hook
R2 ch 2, hdc across (3)
R3 ch 2, hdc in the same, and hdc across (4)
R4 ch 2, hdc in the same, and hdc across (4)
SC all the way around
bind and leave a long tail for sewing

Premmie hat 1 of 3

So a friend of mine is going to have triplets... via good o' natural way. Since we know that they are going to have 3 girls, I made 3 hats for them.

I've been playing around with premmie patterns because work has a donation program to a local hospital, so I have been making hats anyway. For her 3 babies, I made animal themed hats.

This is a little kitty hat. The base of the hat is the same, I used the pattern here, but for the ears, I made it up myself.

Make 2:
R1 magic ring, sc 4
R2 2sc each
R3-5 sc each
leave a long tail and sew it on that hat
